BUSINESS owners will have the chance to test out the latest security technology and hear from the police at Salisbury's first security forum.

Salisbury & District Chamber of Commerce will host the event at the Guildhall on Thursday, November 28 between 4pm and 6pm.

Attendees will hear a keynote speech from superintendent Douglas Downing of Wiltshire Police about the force's business crime prevention strategy.

There will also be talks by Phil Howe of Venture Security about the emerging security risks facing businesses and Andy Tamkus of EVOTEC Fire & Security.

Businesspeople will also have plenty of networking opportunities and can get hands-on with the latest security tech from the speakers and supporting companies.

This will include bullet-proof vests, knife arches, under-vehicle search mirror, CCTV cameras and alarms.

Byron Logue, a chamber director, said: “The Salisbury Chamber of Commerce is proud to be organising this first-of-its-kind event.

“In the current climate of rising crime rates, it is important that local businesses are given the opportunity to engage with the policing and security professionals that keep them safe on a day to day basis.

“Security is often taken for granted but without a secure environment to trade in, commercial activity cannot exist.”
