A SHOP selling independent and ethically sourced gifts and "the best coffee" plans to open its fourth branch in Salisbury.

Fig and Fox, run by James and Helen Mitchell, plans to open in Salisbury in time for the summer as its fourth branch in the Wiltshire and Hampshire area.

It will take on the former Hair @ 46 shop at 46 High Street, after it closed suddenly in October 2024.

Fig and Fox sells a selection of home accessories, lifestyle and gifting products as well as coffee in its own cafe, running as “half cafe, half shop”, James said. Products are made by local and independent crafters, with the shop running completely plastic free and with sustainability in mind.

“It started in lockdown, we kept going out to Romsey and there was nothing that independent or that exciting, especially for gifting.

“We try and find good, independent gifts and things people would like to give for birthdays and Christmas, but also we’re trying to have the best coffee we can.”

The shop aims to be filled with "all their favourite things put in one place", including their own homemade candles and wax melts made at their studio.

As part of their plans, the couple has applied for an alcohol licence, which would allow them to sell alcohol from Mondays to Saturdays 8.30am to- 10pm and Sunday 10am to 10pm.

He said: “We’re really excited, the shop needs a lot of work to make it look like our brand and reflect what we want to do. It’s a little bit daunting, we’re hoping to do work within a few weeks once we’ve got the keys.”

As well as in store, Fig and Fox can be browsed online, selling a huge range of plants, homeware, fragrance and gifting, as well as coffee and their "famous" Fig and Fix bakery boxes of blondies, cookies and brownies.
