LOCAL businesses are being given a boost by a trade fair being organised by the Federation of Small Businesses (FSB).
Despite the tough trading conditions, local businesses are fighting back and the trade fair is one way they can come together, promote their services and attract new customers.
Since it started four years ago, the trade fair has attracted hundreds of businesses and visitors, and this year the event is being extended to include businesses from all over Wiltshire.
It takes place on Tuesday, June 12 to coincide with Salisbury market.
Stalls will be inside the Guildhall as well as the square outside to give as many businesses as possible the chance to exhibit.
FSB chairman, Tony Quinn, said: “We are building on the success of previous years’ events.
“We expect a very high level of visitors as it runs alongside the market, and hope to encourage all of our members to consider exhibiting or visiting us on the day.
“Every business needs to promote its services and/or products and the FSB Keep Trade Local initiative is a very effective way of doing so.”
Last week, the Journal revealed that businesses are teaming up to revive the fortunes of independent businesses in the city.
On July 4, they are holding an Independents Day to encourage shoppers to visit local retailers and support Salisbury’s businesses.
The FSB is also backing a Salisbury First initiative which will discuss issues that affect the vitality of Salisbury.
The trade fair will open to the public from 9am to 3pm.
