Salisbury has been named in the Best Places to Live list for 2024 by Muddy Stilettos.
The woman's lifestyle website creates a list of the 'best places to live' every year, and it has expanded its number of entrants to 260 on this occasion.
It draws upon its insight into the 28 most sought-after counties in England, guiding potential buyers to the local hot spots and up-and-coming areas.
In describing Salisbury, the website said the city was "one full of medieval splendour, windy streets, gothic architecture, and a cluster of funky independent shops and restaurants", as well as a “cracking year-round calendar of high-quality entertainment”
Salisbury’s "inspirational indie treasures" was another plus point, with the website making specific references to Oso Boutique, Casa Fina, Dingham's and Splash of Colour.
It added that city is "spoilt for choice" with unique and independent coffee shops such as Culture Coffee and the Fisherton Mill Café.
Praise also came for the Salisbury Playhouse theatre, Art’s Centre and International Arts Festival, which is now all part of Wiltshire Creative, performing everything from film, comedy theatre to art and dance.
Salisbury is also "blessed with plenty of excellent options" when it comes to schools, such as independent schools Leehurst Swan, Godolphin, Chafyn Grove and Salisbury Cathedral School.
Bishop Wordsworth and South Wilts were also singled out.
Tisbury also makes the list, noted for its "outstanding natural beauty", "countryside" and "festival vibe".
