The Milestone is a period detached cottage with later additions. It is tucked away off a slip road in this rural hamlet within an Area of Outstanding Natural Beauty.

On the ground floor is a hallway opening to the dining room with fireplace and inset stove (untested), sitting room with fireplace and inset stove (untested), conservatory, kitchen, bathroom, separate wc, utility room, boot room. On the first floor is the principal bedroom with dressing area, further two bedrooms and wet room. The cottage offers potential for internal reconfiguration and some updating. Upvc double glazed windows throughout.

To the front (east) of the cottage is low hedging and a paved stone path leading to the porch. A path continues around the cottage off which are further paths to the garden. Adjacent to the conservatory on the south side of the cottage is a paved sun terrace with steps up to a raised sitting area with a fine southerly vista along the garden. A path leads to the courtyard which is at the far, southerly, end of the garden. Either side of the path are areas of lawn, shrubs, specimen trees and further sitting areas and there is an ornamental pond.

This garden has been thoughtfully landscaped over recent decades and is a rare gem.

To the southern end of the garden there is a summerhouse, former vegetable garden and adjacent soft fruit cage (requires some repair). A stream flows through the garden; two wooden footbridges cross the stream to give access to a predominantly wooded area.

At the southern end of the garden a five bar gate opens off the lane to a drive entrance leading to the large paved courtyard and ranges of outbuildings which include a garage, store rooms, log store and an enchanting store (with power) with loft, behind which are two former pigsties, a large aluminium framed greenhouse (with power), cold frames, further log store, compost area and a further ornamental pond.

In all about 1 1/2 acres (0.60 ha) est.

The house lies off a small lane off the Cerne Valley A352 road which provides convenient access to the historic Abbey town of Sherborne (about 8 miles to the north) and the county town of Dorchester (about 12 miles to the south), as well as Yeovil. These towns all provide a wide range of shopping, commercial and educational facilities in the area.

All three towns have mainline railway stations to London/Waterloo. Cerne Abbas, about 3 miles, is noted for its excellent village facilities with a doctors' and dispensing surgery, village store/sub post office, first school, church, modern village hall, tea room and three public houses.
