THIS summer Salisbury turned into a celebrity hotspot, as TV personalities, comedians and musicians appeared in the city.

Whether it was part of a filming stint or just a leisurely visit, here are some of the famous faces that appeared in Salisbury over July and August.

Ed Sheeran

Global pop star Ed Sheeran appeared on breakfast TV live from Salisbury on July 1.

The singer was a guest on ITV's Lorraine live from his Salisbury recording studio, where he was putting the finishing touches to his new album, 'Minus' ('-').

Alan Carr

Comedian and television personality Alan Carr was spotted in Salisbury on July 21.

On Instagram, celebrating his time in the city, the chatty man star posted: "Can’t think of a better place to sweat my tits off than in beautiful Salisbury."

Based on his story on the social media platform, he was filming for Interior Design Masters at Salisbury Cathedral.

Stephen Merchant and Christopher Walken

Actor and comedian Stephen Merchant and Hollywood star Christopher Walken were spotted at Stonehenge on August 7.

The pair had been filming together in Bristol and Walken had always wanted to visit the historic site.

In a post on Twitter Merchant said: "Here I am introducing one of the world’s greatest cultural icons to another. Mr Christopher Walken, meet Stonehenge."

Charlie Dimmock

TV presenter and garden expert Charlie Dimmock was on hand to share her expertise in Salisbury on July 30.

The former Ground Force star was at Monument Place Retirement Living Plus development and Castle Gate Retirement Living development.

She entertained guests with a gardening demonstration, as well as providing advice and inspiration for planting schemes that encourage small birds and insects to visit.

Dame Zandra Rhodes

Icon Dame Zandra Rhodes officially opened the new fashion gallery at Salisbury Museum on August 7.

Dame Zandra has dressed well-known figures including Barbra Streisand, Freddie Mercury, and Princess Diana.

She said it was "wonderful" to come to the city and the museum for the opening of the new gallery and also to see the existing collection of items on display.
