WE asked you, our readers, to vote for your favourite Salisbury café.

Now the results are in!

The Journal’s café of the year 2021 is Greengages.

The coffee house and restaurant on Catherine Street has been praised for its menu, the quality of its food and hot drinks and the team’s customer service.

After finding out about the accolade, owner Richard Coleman said it was “heartwarming” that the team’s work “actually means something in the community”.

He told the Journal: “We want to thank our customers who supported us not just after Covid-19 but before it as well.

"There are so many cafés here, and more will keep popping up, so it’s so great we’ve got this recognition and our hard work has been rewarded.

"We all work together really well, the team are brilliant, and without that we wouldn't be the place that we are."

One way Greengages keeps regulars coming back is through frequently changing the menu, so there is always something different to try.

“We will always try and keep up with what the customers want,” Richard added.

The Greengages business has been in action now for around 10 years, and Richard is pleased to see the pandemic did not stop Salisbury residents and visitors from supporting local businesses.

He said: "We just really want to show our gratitude to our customers, and it's so nice now that they can see their votes really counted."
