A FEW weeks ago Giggling Squid launched a menu, and, to cut a long story short, we couldn't resist.

One of our favourite restaurants in Salisbury and in my opinion of the most consistent, we always look forward to visiting.

New additions to the menu include our choice of starter on the night: Salt and Pepper Chilli Mushrooms.

This consists of  big mushrooms, big spicy flavours with a crispy coating and a sweet chilli dipping sauce. Sprinkled with chilli, garlic, lime leaf, fried garlic and shallots (£6.50).

The mushrooms are a meat-free alternative to their bestselling Salt and Pepper Squid (£8.50).

Other starters joining the menu include the Caramelised Pork Belly (£8.25), bite-sized Crispy Squid Bits (£8.25), and theNorth Eastern Papaya Salad (£8.95).

The sharing platters have also been updated, with the Satay Four Ways (from £17.50) and Fisherman’s Feast (from £23.95) proving great options for peanut sauce fans or squid lovers.

For main courses, the additions are special curries Prawn and Soft Shell Crab (£19.95), Slow Cooked Jungle Curry (£16.95), and Spicy Double Curry Seabass (£17.50), which are all served in a rich sauce.

I went for the Jungle Curry - tender beef tips and vegetables such as aubergine and pea aubergines, green peppercorns, coconut tips, sweetheart cabbage and fine beans in a rich broth simmered with fresh turmeric, curry paste and Thai herbs.

It was a lot spicier than I was expecting - it really was spicy - but it was full of flavour and a welcome addition to the menu.

Salisbury Journal:

We also had the Prawn & Soft Shell Crab: butterfly prawns and crispy-coated soft shell crab with lush seafood curry sauce flavoured with yellow curry, garlic, chilli and coconut milk.

The dessert menu includes the new Pandan Tres Leches (£7.50), the White Chocolate Matcha Cheesecake (£7.50), and the Mini Melting Heart Chocolate Dessert (£3.99).

For those who mix salty and sweet, and just want something small, the Mini Salted Caramel Souffle (£3.99) is on offer while the Mini and Hot Drink Combo (£5.99) gives you the best of both worlds.

Giggling Squid remains one of Salisbury's most consistent restaurants, and definitely one of our favourites, and we can't wait to go back.
