THE audio description service at Salisbury Playhouse has been expanded to include Saturday performances of many of its main house productions.
Audio description, for visually impaired or blind people, is a live commentary via a discreet headset that describes scenery, props, costumes and movements of the actors. The audio description starts with an introduction fifteen minutes before the performance begins. The service is provided by a team of specially-trained volunteer audio describers.
The free service also offers those with a visual impairment the opportunity to take part in a touch tour one hour before the performance.
A week before the show an audio programme is sent to those who have booked in to the performance in order to give them some information about the production in advance.
Tickets for audio described performances can be booked on 01722 320333. Please state you require the service.
