INTERNATIONAL pianist Cordelia Williams is giving a recital at Salisbury Cathedral this Saturday at 7.30pm.
Williams, who was a BBC Young Musician of the Year Finalist in 2006, is regarded as one of the outstanding pianists of her generation.
Her programme of music for the evening includes Mozart’s Rondo in A Minor K.511, Schumann’s Davidsbundlertanze op. 6, Massiaen’s Première Communion de la Vièrge and Chopin’s Scherzo No. 3 and Scherzo No. 4.
Williams has performed throughout Great Britain and France, as well as in Italy, Norway, Switzerland, Austria, Thailand, China, America, Mexico, Kenya and the Gulf States.
Misha Donat of BBC Music Magazine wrote: “Her playing has a warmth and finely-judged flexibility that are immediately attractive. The spontaneity of the performances and the beauty of the piano tone linger in the mind.”
The cathedral’s director of music David Halls said: “I am delighted Cordelia is playing once again at Salisbury Cathedral as her last recital here was truly memorable.”
Tickets are £17.50 from 01722 320333 or online at salisburyplayhouse.com.
