THE classic story Alice in Wonderland is being re-told street dance style as Elevate street dance studio in Salisbury prepares to stage its first show.
About 85 dancers, starting from the age of four, will be performing in Alex in Wonderland which comes to the Blackledge Theatre at Godolphin School on Saturday, May 30
They will be demonstrating a huge array of dance styles and moves as Alex explores Wonderland and meets a host of colourful characters in dazzling costumes.
Jacinta Landon opened Elevate street dance studio above Curves gym on Fisherton Street 18 months ago.
She now teaches classes from minis up to adults and is delighted to be presenting the school’s first full-scale production.
“It’s so exciting for the dancers to work towards a performance and have this opportunity to show off their incredible skills,” said Jacinta.
“Street dance is such a team effort and everyone works together brilliantly.
“I feel so lucky that street dance is such a hit in Salisbury. It’s really part of popular culture-children see it on television and they want to have a go.
“The boys enjoy it as much as the girls and it’s fantastic for their confidence and concentration as well as being great fun.”
