WILTSHIRE boy Jamie Cullum kicked off the Larmer Tree Festival in style last night with a stunning set of jazz, blues, RnB and a few surprises.

Creating a real party atmosphere, the jazz singer-songwriter and Radio 2 presenter knew how to work the festival crowd, getting everyone up on their feet, singing, clapping and dancing.

He sang a number of songs from his 17-year career including his cover of JayZ and Pharell's Frontin' and These Are The Days, written by his brother Ben, who was also in the audience.

He also entertained us with anecdotes from his life growing up in Chippenham, how he learned to play the piano in a desperate attempt to get a girlfriend and how his career started out playing gigs around all the north Wiltshire towns.

The evening culminated in a high-energy party style number with Cullum getting the entire audience clapping and jumping up and down.

Cullum is a true entertainer and a fitting act to have opened the five-day festival.

Acoustic, folk, pop singer Jack Savoretti was a pleasing warm-up act, opening the evening with a number of songs from his critically-acclaimed album Written in Scars.

The festival continues until Sunday with performances from Caro Emerald, The Stranglers, Gabrielle Aplin, Calexico and Tom Odell to name just a few.
