FILM lovers are in for a treat at Salisbury Arts Centre tonight (Thursday) with a screening of Dheepan, the Cannes Film Festival Palme d’Or winner 2015.
Sivadhasan is a Tamil Tiger freedom fighter who attempts to start a new life in Paris.
As the Sri Lankan civil war draws to a close, he flees, along with a woman and a girl to pose as a family and improve their asylum chances.
As he struggles with gruelling jobs, changes of home and escalating gang violence, Dheepan is forced to call upon his warrior instinct to protect his surrogate family.
Dheepan is directed by Jacques Audiard and is in Tamil and French with subtitles.
The screening is at 7.30pm. Doors open at 6.45pm.
