MAD King Suibhne is a new opera by composer and music director Noah Mosley commissioned by Bury Court Opera and premièred this year.

Accompanied by a ten-piece orchestra, the opera was originally designed to be performed in a barn setting with internal wooden structures.

The piece will be performed in the13th century monastic barn at Messums Wiltshire in Tisbury and will use elements of the 140ft art installation Roots Up by Judy Pfaff as an integral part of the set.

Mad King Suibhne continues Messums Wiltshire’s support of the performing arts as well as the visual, following on from Russell Maliphant’s contemporary dance in the 2016 autumn season. Messums Wiltshire is offering schools the chance to enjoy front row seats for the dress rehearsal on Thursday, November 30.

The opera was 18 months in the making, from initial discussions through to the final piece.

Performances of Mad King Suibhne runs from Thursday, November 30 to Saturday, December 2. For more information or to book tickets in advance call Messums Wiltshire on 01747 445 042, email info@messumswiltshire.com or go to messumswiltshire.com.
