THE official launch of Celebrate Voice will take place Monday, with opera singers performing Die Fledermaus at the Medieval Hall in the cathedral close.

The seven-day singing celebration brings a host of leading singers in their field with concerts every night of half-term week at the Medieval Hall in the Cathedral Close.

Tuesday provides a one-off chance to see Dame Josephine Barstow in conversation with BBC Radio 3’s James Jolly, immediately followed by a recital by Rachel Nicholls ahead of her debut as Eva in Die Meistersinger at English National Opera.

Folk singer Sam Lee & Friends performs on Wednesday whilst the public are getting a chance to participate with Sing City – a flashmob-style event on the market square at 1pm. Other nights include Natalie Williams on Friday, October 31 and Dominic Harlan’s sparkling interactive show on Saturday, November 1.

Every event in the festival has been sponsored by local businesses.
