THE Salisbury singer behind a week-long musical extravaganza last month has pledged to return with the event next year.

Celebrate Voice attracted a huge following in its first year and the festival is set to return in October 2015. Lynsey Docherty, who organised the event, said: “Both community and local businesses supported this first-time festival in Salisbury, and having accumulated such a huge following in its first year the festival will return in October half term 2015, extended by two days, with more opportunities for Salisbury to sing.”

She added: “The debut festival of Celebrate Voice in the city sought to bring together a community through song whilst bringing top flight singers to the area.

“And much was celebrated throughout the city as audiences witnessed dazzling performances from Mercury and MOBO award-winning folk, jazz and opera singers.”

Even the wet weather failed to dampen spirits as hundreds of members of the public turned out for Sing City on the Guildhall Square – joining Salisbury Reds Bus drivers, Wiltshire Fire Service alongside festival professionals and passers-by.
