A FORMER Ludgershall GP has officially unveiled a new housing development named in his honour.
Dr Richard Wells, who worked at the Castle Practice for more than 30 years before his retirement in 2008, came back to the town with his wife, Lavinia, to unveil Richard Wells Terrace, a new seven-home development in Wood Park.
Created by the development company Aster Homes, the affordable homes will be let and managed by Aster Homes’ sister company, Aster Communities.
Dr Wells was joined by representatives from Aster Homes, construction company EG Carter, and Ludgershall Town Council, as well as local residents, at a ceremony to mark the completion of the new homes.
He said: “It’s almost 35 years to the day since I came for my interview at the Castle Practice – little did I realise then that I’d be coming back to Ludgershall in 2013 to open a housing development named after me.
“It’s a great honour and I’m very touched that the town council put my name forward. I wish all the residents the very best in their new homes.”
Richard Wells Terrace is a £700,000 development of four two-bedroom and three three-bedroom houses. Ludgershall Town Council chairman Owen White said: “The new properties are a welcome addition for much-needed affordable homes in the area.”
