YOUNG people wishing to see the world and experience life in a different county are being offered the opportunity through The Lions International Youth Camp & Exchange Programme.

People aged between 17-20 living in or near the Ringwood or Fordingbridge area can apply to go on the programme.

The town’s Lions Club is now accepting applications, available from www.ringwoodandfordingbridgelions.org.uk, for 2014.

The closing date is September 30 2013. Accommodation, food, internal travel and visits in the host country will be paid for by The Lions. Applicants will be expected to fund their own international travel, insurance, visas, camp fees and spending money.

Club president Stephen Sherring said: “This is a truly amazing scheme that provides our local young people with a unique opportunity to mix with others their age from around the world and experience what life is like in a different country.

“It helps create friendships for life and can help develop a greater maturity and perspective for those that get involved.”

  •  Lions Clubs International is one of the largest non profit service organisations in the world, with 1.35 million members worldwide.

Exchange visits can last anywhere between 3-6 weeks depending on the country or camp chosen.
