MORE than 200 people enjoyed Hyde Band’s Last Night of the Proms concert on Friday, raising £1,500 towards the new Hyde Church Community Centre.
The concert was set in the atmospheric wartime buildings at South Gorley, with flag waving and singing and all the trimmings of a classic Proms night.
Guest soprano Kara Florish sang Ave Maria, The Queen of the Night’s Aria, and, of course, Land of Hope and Glory.
The band’s next concert will be on Friday, October 26 at Fordingbridge Methodist Church in West Street. To reserve tickets call 01725 518473.
Beginners of any age, or adult players who want to brush up their skills or learn a new instrument, are always welcome at the training band rehearsals on Mondays at St Aldhelm’s Church, Sandleheath from 6.30- 7.30pm.
