A GROUP of lawyers have taken on a marathon trek to raise funds for spinal patients in Salisbury.

The lawyers, from Blake Lapthorn’s injury team based in Southampton, trekked 26.3 miles to raise money for the Southern Spinal Injuries Trust, which supports the Duke of Cornwall Spinal Treatment Centre at Salisbury District Hospital.

The trek took place on September 14 and the team has so far collected more than £1,000 in sponsorship money.

Kym Provan, head of the Southampton Clinical Negligence Team, said: “I have visited the spinal centre at Salisbury on a number of occasions and have been extremely impressed with the facilities and therapies they are able to provide.

“We are all aware of the devastating impact that a spinal cord injury can have on individuals and their families in the longer term, and the SSIT does a wonderful job of supporting patients both while they are in the spinal centre and once they return home.”
