A BUSINESSMAN based on Salisbury Plain is walking 100 miles to raise money for forces charity Combat Stress.

Tim Shapland, business services director at Landmarc Support Services, launched Project Longstride earlier this month and hopes to raise £10,000.

Mr Shapland has so far walked in Northumberland, the Brecon Beacons, Pembrokeshire and Thetford, and on Saturday he walked along the Wessex Ridgeway on Salisbury Plain.

He said: “Ten thousand pounds is a lot of money for one person to raise and I am absolutely committed to ensuring the charity receives it.

"The work of Combat Stress is only made possible through fundraising initiatives, so please dig deep to help these veterans, who have often risked their lives to protect us.”
