TWO Salisbury villages have been presented with their awards for being among the best kept in Wiltshire.

Representatives from Teffont and Dinton were presented with the prizes at Teffont Village Hall on Sunday – Teffont was the winner in the small village category and Dinton the winner of the special Laurence Kitching Award, which is for the six winning villages from 2011 and 2012, which cannot compete in the main competition.

The Wiltshire Best Kept Village competition, sponsored by the Hills Group and judged by the Campaign for the Protection of Rural England (CPRE), saw 50 villages across the county judged for tidiness, cleanliness, presentation and village community spirit.

Teffont will keep an eight-foot standard with a mounted shield in the village for a year. Both villages were given certificates, plaques and prize money.
