THE Woodfalls Inn had one heck of a party last Thursday - live on air!

The pub "won" the right to host Chris Evans's Radio 2 show in the drivetime show's UK tour, which saw the production team visit and broadcast from the home of one listener in Scotland, one in Northern Ireland, one in Wales and one in England.

Hundreds of friends and guests packed the pub to see and hear the DJ present his show from a corner of the bar.

Musical guests included the South West Trains Woodfalls Band, who played a selection of Christmas carols, and hit band The Magic Numbers, who coped manfully with performing live in front of the menu board, with the assistance of a whole bar full of unofficial backing singers, boisterously joining in every catchy refrain.

Jonny Saunders' sports locker thread featured Salisbury City manager Nick Holmes and powerlifting world champion Bill West, and there was a local slant to all the show's regular features - from the business news to the child who told Chris what he had done for the first time that day.

Having stayed overnight at the pub the night before the show, and been up enjoying the hospitality until 3am, Chris and the radio team went off air with promises the fun would go on way into the night.

The assembled crowd certainly seemed ready to party on.
