A NEW home for veterans has been opened in Salisbury by the charity Alabaré.
The building, in Exeter Street, provides accommodation for five residents who are adjusting to a civilian lifestyle after serving with the armed forces.
Friday’s opening ceremony was performed by Colonel Robert Herring, Chief of Staff at the United Kingdom Defence Academy, and attended by Alabaré’s senior chaplain Canon Jonathan Martin and other invited guests.
Residents are given support with finding work and housing, as well as in learning new skills.
There is also a mentoring and befriending scheme to help the veterans integrate with the wider community.
