A PILE of waste including sofas, a fridge freezer and mattresses were dumped across a country road near Salisbury, totally blocking access.
Police and Wiltshire Council environmental enforcement officers were called in after the waste was illegally dumped Windwhistle Lane, West Grimstead, Salisbury on Friday.
Anyone who may have seen a lorry heavily laden with the goods on or before 8am that day is being asked to come forward, particularly travelling on the A36 Salisbury to Southampton Road.
John Thomson, Wiltshire Council Cabinet member for enforcement said: “We are appealing to anyone who might recognise the waste to contact the council as we will prosecute anyone we find responsible for fly-tipping waste.
"We want to send out a clear message that we will not tolerate fly-tipping and we will actively pursue the perpetrators behind this incident so we can bring them to justice.”
Anyone who has information that may assist the investigation is asked to contact Wiltshire Council on 01722 434330.
