POLICE are urging businesses to be vigilant following 30 reported incidents of fake notes being used in Wiltshire.
Since January, there has been a series of offences committed across the county involving fake £50 notes and fake Scottish £20 notes being used.
The offences have taken place at a number of shops, pubs and hotels in Mere, Ludgershall, Amesbury and Salisbury.
It is believed that at least six male and female offenders are involved and that they could be working as part of a wider team.
If anyone tried to use a fake note, businesses are urged to call 999 immediately to give officers the opportunity to catch the offenders at the scene.
If the offenders are no longer at the scene, people are asked to call Wiltshire Police on 101 or Crimestoppers on 0800 555111.
