PIRATES, knights, Little Red Riding Hood and Mr Men were among the characters enjoying Book Week at Netheravon All Saints Primary School on Monday.
Children and staff dressed up as their favourite character to kick off a week of literacy-based fun.
On Monday the school welcomed children's author Debi Evans, who writes The Secret Adventures of Rolo books. On Tuesday David Johnson, author of the Crystal Quest books, worked with KS2 children to inspire their creative writing and today Eileen Browne will be telling KS1 children about she writes and illustrates her Handa's books and doing some drama with them based on the books.
Assistant headteacher and literacy co-ordinator Catherine Bonham said: “The books are going down an absolute storm; the children have been enthralled by it all. I'm so pleased to have Eileen Browne coming in. Her books have sold a million copies worldwide so it's such a coup to get her.
“It's really nice to see the children being so enthusiastic.”
The school also had a book fair on Monday run by Devizes Books and yesterday, after school, the KS1 children returned to school in their pyjamas for a bed time story with milk and biscuits.
