A SALISBURY pre-school is celebrating after Ofsted inspectors awarded it their highest grade in every category.

St Osmund’s Pre-School on Exeter Street was graded outstanding overall and outstanding in all of the Ofsted early years categories including the quality of provision, the well-being and safety of children and leadership and management.

St Osmund’s has 63 children on roll aged from two to four, almost half of whom learn English as an additional language.

The report praises the setting for providing a stimulating environment and highly effective monitoring which enable children to make rapid progress.

Partnerships with parents and other professionals were judged to be excellent so that children develop trust and settle quickly in the friendly environment. Pre-school manager Trudy Surman leads a team of 11 staff who “work extremely well together with an excellent understanding of their responsibilities,” the report says.

“This is an excellent report for all of us here at St Osmund’s” said Ms Surman. “Ofsted quite rightly have very high expectations of early years providers, and an outstanding rating in every category is a really exceptional achievement. I am so proud of my staff and grateful to the pre-school committee for all their wonderful support.”
