YOUNG sports fans can take part in athletics camps being run in Salisbury and Tidworth over the summer.

The StarTrack camps are run by Wiltshire Council during the school holidays, with other sports such as basketball and cricket being offered in other parts of the county.

There will also be a Fun in the Sun rural outreach programme and a holiday programme for young people with special education needs and/or disabilities.

Jerry Kunkler, the council’s portfolio holder for leisure and sport, said: “This is a fantastic opportunity for young people to get involved in sport and physical activity over the summer holidays, develop their skills, and encourage a love of healthy lifestyles. We hope this will lead to more people involved in regular sport across Wiltshire.”

The sport specific camps are open to boys and girls and focus on fun and skill development in age appropriate groups, with high quality coaching provided to support all elements of each sport.

StarTrack athletics is open to eight to 14 year olds.
