A CLUB in Dorset that makes a vital difference to the lives of people with sight loss has been saved.
Dorset Blind Association had only days left to save its club for working age blind people.
The charity had raised £9,000 of the £12,000 it needed, thanks to an appeal which saw people posting photos to social media of the things they would miss if they went blind.
But it needed to find the rest before the group leader’s contract ended at the end of the month.
Basepoint Business Centre in Bournemouth stepped in to provide the remaining £3,000.
Carly Thompson, regional manager at Basepoint, said: “We’re owned by a charitable trust, the Act Foundation, which is dedicated to improving the quality of life for those in need, so as soon as we heard about Dorset Blind’s appeal, we wanted to help.”
Jaya Da Costa, fundraising manager for the Dorset Blind Association, said: “We’re absolutely delighted.”
The charity recently made three people redundant and is still facing a shortage of cash.
