WE rang the changes at our August meeting and enjoyed an evening meal together at the village hall.
The supper was cooked by the committee and it was an opportunity to chat and enjoy a summer evening together.
All the members requested we do the same next year as well as our usual lunches.
Betty Chandler, Dorothy King, Margaret Dean and Pam Cotton celebrated August birthdays.
Our speaker for September was Margaret Thomas who spoke about her life as a carer.
Mrs Thomas became a carer when her husband Harry was diagnosed with Parkinson’s Disease and described the impact the role had on all aspects of life.
She had great appreciation for the Salisbury Hospital support group and, although sadly her husband died, she is now a volunteer with the support group.
There were birthday flowers for Isobel Menzies and Pat McKenzie.
We welcomed Margaret Dean, Sonia Jones and Judith Newel as new members.
Our next meeting will be Wednesday, October 8 at 2.15pm in the village hall when we will welcome back Nick Gilbert who will give a talk on dahlias.
New members will be made very welcome.
