WHEN the committee members were planning the 66th show during the bad weather which struck the country at the beginning of the year, there was concern about how conditions would affect growth of produce in gardens and allotments.
However, enough entries came in to make a good display in the church for judges to consider and reward worthy winners and for visitors in the afternoon to view and admire the talents of the participants.
Thanks to the suggestion of new younger members of the committee, the schedule of children was revised to provide three age-ranges each with suitable specific activities and all children who entered were given a certificate.
These were received with great enthusiasm and the Teddy Bear Cup, newly presented especially for the under 4s, was won by Adam Wilkinson.
Carolynne Goldie won the Millennium Cup for 9-15 year olds.
And Emma Wilkinson achieving the Jubilee Cup for 5-8 year olds.
Other cup holders who received their awards from the Vicar, Paul Taylor, were Mr and Mrs Lipscombe, Mr Bacon, Mr Turner, Mrs Osgood, Mrs Martin and Mrs Macleod.
The most enjoyable community event was helped greatly by the many volunteers who took the time to move furniture, provide and serve refreshments, and sell raffle tickets and produce.
