A GUITAR concert in memory of a baby girl who died just weeks after being born because of a rare genetic condition has raised £430 for the Stars Appeal.
Nick Parks’ daughter Abigail was cared for by nurses in the neo-natal intensive care unit at Salisbury District Hospital when she was born with Edwards Syndrome last April.
A peripatetic music teacher at schools across south Wiltshire, Mr Parks invited several of his pupils to perform both solo pieces and duets in the concert held last month.
The young musicians came from Bishop Wordsworth School, South Wilts, Sarum Academy and St Joseph’s as well as Burgate, Avondale and Test Valley School.
Mr Parks and his wife, Alba, said: “We would like to say a huge thank you to all who came and supported the event. There was some excellent talent on show.
“We would also like to say a big thank you to City Gate Church for providing the venue, RiverSpring Cafe for providing refreshments and donating the proceeds to the Stars Appeal and to the doctors and nurses for supporting the event.”
