THE manager of the Market Inn in Salisbury has launched a fundraising drive for the Stars Appeal breast cancer campaign by donating a pound for every time a customer pays for a ‘star buy’ meal from the specials menu.

Paul Whitburn started the initiative at the beginning of January and plans to run it through to the end of February.

He hopes other restaurants in the city will also participate.

He said: “We have called one of our specials a ‘star buy’ and we change it every week and a pound from every one sold will be donated to the Stars Appeal breast cancer campaign.

“The idea was to launch it as a bit of a challenge to all the food and beverage places in the city – so each one picks a special and donates a pound for each one sold in a month.

“So far we have had cod loin and venison, and the next one will be chicken breast.”

“We have a portable chalkboard which we take to each table and introduce the specials so we are telling our customers about the fundraising dish as we do so.”
