ONE lucky player could be walking away with an astonishing £1m cash prize at this year's High Post Corporate Golf Challenge.

The amazing sum is being put up by Mark Lucas, boss of the Clown About children's entertainment centre, and it will be on offer to whoever wins the nearest the pin competition on the 17th hole. That player will be invited to play a tee shot from the 17th and, if they get a hole in one, they will scoop the million pounds.

The annual High Post Golf Club Challenge is now in its fifth year and over that time has raised more than £35,000 for local charities.

Main sponsor of this summer's event, which will be played at the High Post course on Thursday, June 7 is Standard Life and the aim will be to net more than £20,000 for Naomi House Children's Hospice.

It will be titled The Standard Life High Post Corporate Challenge and other sponsors will include Clown About, Scottish Equitable and Jackson's Mercedes.

Scottish Equitable will be financing an auction prize and Jackson's are sponsoring all four par 3's - with a new £30,000 Mercedes up for grabs by anyone who gets a hole in one at the 17th.

The event is being restricted to 22 teams and the entry fee of £300 includes sandwiches on arrival and a meal in the evening. The places will be decided on a first to pay basis and anyone interested in entering a team should contact the High Post Golf Club.
