A 25-YEAR-OLD soldier died after he was hit by a car near Amesbury this morning.
The incident happened at just before 1am when a red Jaguar X Type collided with the man on The Packway, Larkhill.
The victim died at the scene.
Police closed the road for several hours while officers investigated.
An Army spokesman told Spire FM News: "We can confirm that a serving soldier was killed following a road traffic collision in Larkhill in the early hours of Thursday 30 July.
"The soldier’s family have been informed and our thoughts are with them at this difficult time."
