A SALISBURY woman was seriously injured when she jumped from a moving car and into the path of a lorry on a motorway this morning.
The 24-year-old was the front seat passenger in a Fiat Punto travelling towards Blackpool on the M55 when she threw herself out.
She was hit by a Daf truck in the inside lane, breaking her pelvis, leg, and sustaining multiple other injuries, at around 12.30am.
She was taken to Royal Preston Hospital where her condition was initially described as serious but not life threatening.
The lorry driver, a 38-year-old man from Bootle in Merseyside, escaped unhurt.
The road was reopened at around 5.20am.
A spokesman for Lancashire Police said it is not believed the woman was being held against her will, but said it was unclear why she jumped.
