SALISBURY Cathedral was plunged into darkness and then bathed in candlelight for the annual From Darkness to Light services for Advent.
The services, which took place on Friday, Saturday and Sunday, drew thousands of people to watch theAdvent candle be lit and the processions move around the cathedral — lighting the 1,500 candles to the sound of choral music.
Pupils from Salisbury Cathedral School took part in the event. The two processions are made up of senior clergy from the diocese as well as the two cathedral choirs and a large group of ‘candle-bearers’ who are also pupils at at the school.
