A NORMANDY veteran from Salisbury has received France’s highest honour – the Legion d’honneur.
Alan Richardson, 92, was presented with the medal by Josette Lebrat, the French Honorary Consul, in front of his family and friends at a special ceremony today (Saturday) at Gracewell of Salisbury Care.
He was just 20-years-old when as a First Lieutenant on a landing craft tank, he helped to deliver a deadly cargo of ammunition to the Normandy beaches.
Alan is pictured below with David Hogg and Josette Lebrat. David is the son of Donald Hogg who was Alan's commanding officer.
