SERVE ON has welcomed the donation of a vital piece of satphone equipment from e3 Systems.

The BGAN, a device providing access to high speed broadband Internet in remote locations, will ensure critical and lifesaving information is sent from a disaster zone to its headquarters in Salisbury and to those who need it.

Whilst deployed it can be difficult for teams to communicate with home due to the remote areas they work in or severe damage to landline or mobile telephone systems. This equipment will allow any teams we deploy to be in regular contact so they can be kept safe, no matter where in the world they are.

Dan Cooke, the operations director for Serve On, said, “When our teams are deployed it is absolutely crucial that our men and women on the ground can keep in touch with our Operations Room at Headquarters. It lets the rest of the team know what’s happening, decisions about travel and transport can be made, it ensures the safety of everyone involved and importantly, we can give their families regular updates. This equipment will hugely improve our capacity during deployment and in addition, will allow us to transmit multimedia, like images and drone camera videos – which can boost the knowledge that all NGOs and charities will be working with.”

Paul Rose, the trustee at Serve On, said: “We are so delighted that e3 Systems have donated this equipment to us. It will be a game changer the next time we deploy and will we be able to manage the logistics of a complicated operation better than ever. As a small charity it’s amazing to have such great support from businesses, it genuinely helps our team to save lives.”
