THE country will decide today whether we want to be In or Out and I’ve already decided that I’m In. Why? Well, I believe the business, finance and economics experts when they say we will be worse off if we leave the biggest single market in the world.

Yes, we could renegotiate our way back in, but it could take many years and we are very likely to have to accept all the same EU regulations and the free movement of people as we have today so why would we take all the risk to get back to a worse place than where we started?

I also believe those who say we are stronger and safer by working together across Europe to solve the migration issues and security threats all countries face. I also totally reject the myths that have been so lazily pedalled by some Out campaigners. We do not send £350 million a week to Brussels; a number that wilfully ignores both Britain’s rebate, and what the EU spends in the UK in the form of vital infrastructure projects or university research.

We do have the right to veto Turkey joining the EU if the country ever actually meets the conditions of membership and we do have a veto over any plans for a European army. But, aside from the facts and the rejection of myths is the key question of who we want to be.

Most of us reject the rampant racism, intolerance and isolationism revealed by the extreme of the Leave campaign.

We are tolerant, kind, open, inclusive, outward-looking, and powerful and Europe needs us to be in there, helping to reform it, not sitting uneasily as the awkward curtain-twitching neighbour. For us to be better off, safer, stronger and more influential, vote to Remain today.
