A COUPLE who met on two wheels are celebrating their diamond wedding anniversary today (Thursday).
George and Judy Bukin who live in Ringwood were married at St Luke's Church in Walthamstow.
George grew up in London during the Second World War, his parents and family running pubs.
He recalls playing on the bomb sites and being forced to take shelter on the underground during bombing raids.
Judy lived in Calshot and Hythe before moving with her family to East London to run a corner shop.
George was an apprentice for the engineering company Short & Mason's while Judy worked in the city as a secretary for Prudential Shippers.
Sharing a mutual love for cycling, the couple first crossed paths while out on their bikes with friends in Epping Forest, Essex.
George who raced semi-professionally on the track, cross-country and in time-trials, also used to build cars from old Austin's, and has been an avid watcher of both the Tour de France and Formula One racing over the years.
Judy who would cycle from London to West Lavington, Wiltshire, to visit her parents enjoys reading and tolerates gardening.
They also both loved camping, travelling around England on their push bikes, then on their Lambretta Scooter.
The couple who have three children, four children and two great grandchildren, will be celebrating their special day with a family meal.
