A 79-YEAR-OLD woman has died after a two-car crash on the A303 near Mere yesterday (Sunday).
The incident, which happened at about 2.55pm, involved a black Toyota Yaris and a black Mercedes Benz.
The woman, from Kent, was driving a black Toyota Yaris eastbound on the A303 near to Mere when she collided with a black Mercedes Benz.
She was pronounced dead at the scene. Formal identification has not yet taken place, but next of kin have been informed.
The occupants of the Mercedes were taken to Salisbury District Hospital with non-life threatening injuries.
PC Leigh Mayhew, of the Roads Policing Unit, said: "The road was closed for eight hours to allow for a full investigation of the scene to be carried out.
"We'd like to hear from anyone who was in the area at the time who may have seen the vehicles involved prior to the collision, or anyone who witnessed the collision and has not yet spoken to police."
