A WEST Moors woman will be scaling new heights next month when she takes part in a tough charity challenge.

Annie Dougall is a member of an eight-strong team attempting to walk the summits of six mountain peaks, including Snowdon and Ben Nevis, within 72 hours.

The charity bid, which is expected to raise more than £4,000 for WaterAid, involves tackling peaks in England, Wales, Scotland, the Isle of Man, Ulster and the Republic of Ireland.

During the three days, from July 6 to July 9, the team will walk 50 miles, scale 20,000 feet, drive 1,000 miles and complete two sea crossings.

"I've done lots of training and now feel very excited about taking part," said Annie, who works as a meter administrator for Bournemouth & West Hampshire Water (BWHW).

"My sons, Rad and David, and their girlfriends are backing me all the way and BWHW has also been very supportive."

Her team has been assembled by Sensus Metering Systems, which has four staff taking part.

Other members of the team include representatives from Bristol Water and Sutton and East Surrey Water.

Annie's past exploits have include three London marathons, one in New York and one in Dublin.

She has also completed several half marathons, three separate Three Peaks Challenges and three Trailwalker 100km events.

Tony Cooke, BWHW's managing director said: "I am full of admiration for Annie.

"Many of our staff take on amazing challenges to raise money for charity. The Six Peaks Challenge is the toughest so far and I wish Annie and her team every success with it."
