THE Wilton Classic and Supercar Show has been cancelled for the second year in a row.

Organisers say the popular event will not be happening again, due to unforeseen circumstances, but have refused to explain why.

The event was due to be held at Wilton House on the weekend of June 3.

Event director Richard Sutton said that it was Lord Pembroke’s decision.

He said: “We have been working for 18 months and it was going to be a bigger and better event than ever before. But it is with great sadness that it will not be taking place again.”

Responding to the news on Facebook, fan Daniel Vaughan posted: “This is beyond upsetting! Was really looking forward to this after not having one last year!”

After the 2016 event was cancelled, Mr Sutton announced big plans for 2017.

He said at the time: “We want to take Wilton to the next level as it has tremendous potential. We want to make it truly exceptional on a national stage.”

And Lord Pembroke said he wanted “a perfectly-formed and exceptional show in 2017”.
