PC Nugent said that no vehicle was parked at the house, but it may have been parked round the corner.

She said: "I’d like to take this opportunity to remind residents not to accept any offers of work to be carried out on their homes by cold callers;  Please also try and have a conversation about this with your elderly neighbours and relatives and ensure they have always enlisted the help of a trusted workman if they need any work carried out.

“We’d like to hear from anyone who may have seen the two men in the area, or witnessed a suspicious vehicle parked nearby."
