The Revd Charles Mitchell-Innes will be joining us in July as he prepares to take up his new role as Vicar of The Close.

Born in Watford, Charles attended Wellington College going on to Cambridge to read Classics, before moving to Edinburgh, where he trained as a teacher.

His first appointment was at Sherborne School in 1970. He was later promoted to Head of Classics at Sherborne, where he remained until 1989.

In 1983 Charles started to train for the ministry at the Salisbury and Wells Theological College.

He was made a deacon in 1986, and priest in 1987. For his last three years at Sherborne School he also served as the Assistant School Chaplain, as well as assistant priest in the Queen Thorne benefice.

From 1989 to 1996 Charles was Chaplain at Milton Abbey School. Since 1996, he has been the Conduct and Senior Chaplain at Eton College.

Charles's interests are music, hill walking and spending time with his family.

He and his wife Patsy are now proud grandparents to Josiah, their first grandson, born just last month to their son Duncan and his wife Charlotte.

Charles and Patsy will be welcomed into the Cathedral at the 10am service on Sunday July 15.
