AN air ambulance has landed on The Greencroft, Salisbury. 

The helicopter was heard flying overhead just before 5.30pm.

Police and a land ambulance were also at the scene. 

The air ambulance left at about 6.15pm. 

A police spokesman said a 36-year-old local man had been involved in a serious assault in Estcourt Road, which happened at about 5pm, where he received injuries, which are thought to be serious but not life threatening. 

The man made his way to Bourne Hill Police Station where he received medical attention. He was later taken to hospital. 

Wiltshire Police are trying to locate the suspect who was known to the victim. 

Inspector Alan Webb said: “We are dealing with a serious assault and are trying to locate the offender who left the area.

“I want to reassure the public in Salisbury that this was not a random attack. The victim and the offender are known to each other and we understand there was an altercation.”

The Journal has also contacted South Western Ambulance Service and is awaiting a response.
