THE wait for three points rolls on at lacklustre Amesbury Town.

Blues missed the chance to register a first victory since mid-January after being held to a 1-1 draw with Verwood Town, a result which confirmed the Potters' relegation from the Sydenhams Wessex Premier.

Craig Wheeler grabbed the opener on 38 minutes after finishing off a clinical attack.

The visitors equalised nine minutes after the restart when Kris Anderton went on a mazy run and his shot cannoned off the woodwork, leaving Max Fletcher to power home the rebound.

Blues thought they had pinched the points late on but they were denied by the upright.

The point sees Adam Pearson's men, who are without a win in 12 games, in 17th place.

Meanwhile, Saturday's opposition will be getting ready for life in Division One next season.

Verwood, who have spent five years in the top flight, sacked manager Gavin Reeves following a six-match winless start to the season in September.

But replacement Adie Arnold, who masterminded their promotion as Wessex One champions in 2012, failed to revive their fortunes and has presided over just five league wins.
