A HOUSE in Salisbury has been served with a closure notice over issues of antisocial behaviour.

Police executed the warrant under the Sexual Offences Act - Controlling Prostitution for Gain at the premises in Avon Terrace on Thursday evening.

Police say they have received numerous complaints from the public with residents living nearby distressed over anti-social behaviour, noise and parking issues in the area for a long time.

While no arrests were made and no offences of exploitation have been disclosed, the owner of the property has been served with a Premises Closure Notice in relation to antisocial behaviour by Wiltshire Council and a hearing will be held at Salisbury Magistrates Court on May 15.

Acting Inspector Sarah Mackett said: “The local residents have encountered problems for a significant period of time and I hope they are reassured that we have been listening to them and are prepared to take action.

"Officers and staff from several departments have been working together with partners at Wiltshire Council to tackle the various issues that have been raised and we have a clear duty to investigate any potential sexual exploitation.”

Rowena Lansdown, public protection office at Wiltshire Council, added: “Following a number of complaints from members of the public, and other issues raised regarding this address, we have worked with Wiltshire Police to serve this notice.

"I would encourage residents to continue to report incidents that cause alarm, harassment or distress.”
